Boo Milby 5k

The Boo Milby Memory 5K was started in  2009 by Joanne Milby and the Illinois Valley Alzheimer Group in memory of her late husband Wilby “Boo:” Milby who suffered from Alzheimer’s.

Joanne and her group organized and directed the race through 2018, when Joanne turned the race portion of the event over to the Starved Rock Runners. 

Originally started and ended at Northwest Elementary School until construction on the school prompted a move to start and finish the race at VFW in 2023. 

Joanne and her group still sell sponsorship for the event and the event shirts, all of which goes to the Illinois Valley Alzheimer Group.
