Free Women’s Walk-toRun Clinic @ Northwest School
May 1 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

FREE Women’s Walk-to Run Clinic

This is a 5 week mini-clinic that has been designed to prepare women to run in an encouraging and supporting environment.Train as you build strength and endurance with other women who also have a goal to learn how to become a runner. Meet other who would like to meet their fitness goals.

The goal for the Wal-To_Run Clinic us to build from walking 1 mile to eventually run/walk with the ultimate goal reaching 1.5 miles.

The mini-clinic is a perfect way to get a jump start for the beginning runner who plans to run by joining the Women’s Running Clinic that starts with a registration night, May 23rd at 6:45 at the Peru YMCA.The running clinic is June 5th – August 14th. This clinic preps women to reach a 3.1 (5K) running goal. Runners are working toward completing the 5K Boo Miley Race that supports Alzheimer’s Disease.

Wednesday Night Group Runs @ Lock 14 on the I & M Canal
May 3 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Runners of all abilities are invited.
Group meets between 6:00-6:15 PM. Runners take off at 6:15 PM.
Group meets at Lock 14 on the I & M Canal, LaSalle
Length of runs vary. Runs are on the towpath.
Lock 14 is located off of Route 351 in LaSalle. Entrance to parking near Lock 14 is just North of ShippingsPort Bridge connecting LaSalle and Oglesby.

Cinco de Kilo @ Running Central
May 5 all-day

Come celebrate Cinco de Mayo with ShaZam Racing! 6:00 PM race time. Start with a 5K on Peoria’s beautiful riverfront trail and end with a Fiesta! Sign up today!!! In 2016, almost 400 people came out to celebrate with us. This year will be bigger and better than ever! Race will be limited to the first 450 people. Participants will receive an official 2017 Cinco de Kilo t-shirt, and FIESTA!! Participants will also receive 1 drink ticket.

Lake Run 12K @ Lake Bloomington

SRRL Circuit Race. 35th Annual Race. Certified 12K (7.44 miles).

Scenic course around Lake Bloomington.  Flat for first two miles. Flat to rolling to 5 miles. Flat to finish with gradual uphill to flat finish.

Divisions and Awards: Men’s and Womn’s: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49. 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over. Men’s Foot Pounder: 220lbs and up, Men’s Foot Pounder Light: 190-219lbs, Women’s Foot Pounder: 180lbs & up, Women’s Foot Pounder Light: 150-179lbs. Awards to Overall Male & Female, Overall Male & Female masters, Top 3 Male and female in each age division & Foot Pounder Division.

Early registration by 4/15/16 is $25.00 for 12K, 4.37 mile and 3 mile walk. $40.00 for 1/2 Marathon. Late registration online or mail-in 4/16/16: Add $3.00 Late Fee. Race Day Add $5.00

8th Annual James Dankenbring Memorial Scholarship 5K & Fun Walk @ Lake Kakusha
May 7 @ 10:00 am

Come join us!! This 5k run/walk at the beautiful Lake Kakusha in Mendota, IL will be held in memory of James Dankenbring. All proceeds go towards a scholarship to Mendota High School students in James’s name. The course is a fast, all terrain trail that circles the lake. The property is well maintained, established grass trails through wooded and prairie lots. The course will be well marked and equipped with water stations at miles 1 & 2. Registration is $20 in advance, $25 on race day. Registration forms and online registration are available at www.thankdank.org. Race day registration is from 8am to 9:45, race at 10 sharp. –For the younger crowd a Fun Walk around Lake Mendota will start at 10am as well with games and snacks. Kids 10 and under can participate in the Fun Walk for free. Child sized shirts are $10 and the order must be placed by April 20th to thethankdank5k@yahoo.com. –Sweatshirts are available for purchase by request, limited number available on race day. Email thethankdank5k@yahoo.com for requests. — All participants on the 5k route must be fully registered. Race will be held rain, mud or shine. In case of severe weather cancellation we thank you for your donation. –All participants registered before April 30th may pick up their race packets on May 6th between 1 and 3pm at First United Methodist Church, 100 6th St. Mendota IL.

Starved Rock Country Marathon and Half Marathon

Now in its fourth year, the 2017 Starved Rock Country Marathon and Half Marathon have been described as a soon to be favorite in central Illinois.  The course will again encompass the scenery of the Illinois River, the neighborhoods of Ottawa and the rolling landscapes in and around Starved Rock State Park.  Runners will experience rolling country hills and natural characteristics that will inspire your run with scenic beauty. Runners will experience the highs and lows of the hills created by the Illinois River thousands of years ago. Our record eligible marathon course has 16 Aide stations and will again have GU on course at one aid station as well as Gatorade at each station.
