Race Directors can now enter all of the information to have their race listed on the Starved Rock Runner calendar. For your race to be listed, it MUST be a competitive timed event. Virtual runs will NOT be posted. To have your event listed on the SRR Ltd. calendar, please send an e-mail to  requesting instructions on how to list your race.  You will receive a return email with instructions on how to post your race.


Shamrock 5K Run/Walk @ Holy Cross School

*Entry Fee: $25 if postmarked by March 1, 2020; fee increases to $30 if registered between 3/2-3/14

*Registration/Check-In opens race day at 8:30 a.m. in Holy Cross School gymnasium
*Race starts and ends at Holy Cross School. Race will be through the streets of Mendota. No trail running.
*Awards will be presented to the 1st overall male and female runners in the 5K.
*1st -3rd places will be awarded medals in each age division for male/female.
*Age divisions: 9 and under, 10-12, 13-16, 17-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over
*Refreshments following race
*Proceeds to benefit Holy Cross School
*Race continues rain or shine. In case of severe weather leading to cancellation, thank you for your donation. No refunds.

Lori’s Walleye Run 5k @ Hall High School

Race day registration will be in the lobby at Hall High School (go through the front doors, on the south side of the school, turn left), from 7:30 – 8:30AM

The Course is Certified Distance with Splits at mile 1 and 2. The race will be electronically timed and Computerized Race Results with results posted on Starved Rock Runners web site. There will be a water stops on course just past the 1 and 2 mile points. There will be traffic control on the course. Refreshments will be available after the race. Long Sleeve T-Shirt is only guaranteed to those per-registered by noon on 3/14.

Divisions: Awards & Age Awards will be given to the 1st, 2nd & 3rd place finishers in each age bracket, the Overall Male & Female Finishers, & the top Male and Female Finisher from Spring Valley. Age Divisions: (one each for Male & Female) 9 & under, 10-13, 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over.

THE COURSE: The race begins and ends in the parking lot of Hall High School. The start line will be in the south east corner of the parking lot, and the end will be very near the sidewalk leading to the front doors of the new school. The course is an out and back. Thanks to volunteers from the Spring Valley Walleye Club, we will have traffic control at every intersection on the course to help keep you safe.  While our Race Marshall’s will do everything they can to keep you safe, the race is on city streets, and the streets will not be shut down to traffic, so please be aware of potential traffic.

THE AWARDS CEREMONIES: Will be held in the comfort of the beautiful cafeteria of Hall Hall School, where all of the post race food and refreshments will be.

Penguin in the Park 5K @ Fairview Park, Decatur, IL

Penguin in the Park 5K Run/Walk will be celebrating its milestone 15th anniversary on March 28, 2020! After his namesake, the Penguin, John Bingham, inspires us all to get out there and be active. Penguin in the Park is the largest (and friendliest) 5K in the Decatur area. This race embraces the Penguin in all of us — a race for the speedy, and those who want to take their time and enjoy the course!

Starting at 9:00am, the 5K race takes place in Fairview Park on a rolling bike path; afterwards, we move to the post-race party inside to Millikin’s Griswold Gym for awards, and warm food.

This year will once again include the 300 meter Penguin Jr. Dash for the younger penguins that will take place before the start of the 5K at 8:30 am. This is a great opportunity to include youth in a sport and activity that is life long. Make Penguin in the Park a family activity this year. Penguin Dash participants will receive a short sleeve t-shirt and goody bag along with a finisher ribbon.

Santas on the Run V – 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk @ John F. Kennedy School (west parking lot)

Santas On The Run benefits the Hall Township Food Pantry. You can run this 5K for time, or you can do it partake in the Holiday spirit. Preregistration includes your choice of a  Long Sleeve T-Shirt, a crew sweatshirt or hoodie, a Santa Hat and Beard. All participants are encouraged to wear their hat and beard (and bells if you have them) in the run/walk, but it is not mandated.

There will be water stops at approximately 1 & 2 miles, that will also include Holiday treats (cookies and candy).

The race will start and end in the parking lot of John F. Kennedy School (800 N. Richards, Spring Valley). The course is accurately measured and will be on paved city streets. The course is mostly flat with a few gentle uphills (in the 5K). Traffic control will be posted at all intersections to keep participants safe. Split times available at every mile.

The race will be electronically timed with results to be posted on the Starved Rock Runners web site.

As an added bonus, for each two non-perishable item an entrant brings to donate to the food pantry, their names will be entered into a raffle to be held after the race, with chances to win gift certificates and prizes from race sponsors.The more items you donate, the better your chances of winning (watch the web site as the list of potential winnings grows).

Awards will be given to the overall Male and Female finishers, as well as the top three finishers (Male and Female), in each of the following age groups: 9 & under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70 and over.

Packet pick up and race day registration will be available from 8:30AM until 9:30AM at John F Kennedy School. Day of registration is not guaranteed a shirt.
