SUMMARY:Starved Rock Marathon events
DESCRIPTION:Back for a 12th year\, the 2026 Starved Rock Country Marathon and Half Marathon\, 5K and now 10K  have become the “must do” events of the running community in central Illinois. The Marathon course will again encompass the scenery of the Illinois River\, the neighborhoods of Ottawa\, and the rolling landscapes in and around Starved Rock State Park. Runners will be inspired by the scenery of rolling country hills and natural rock formations tucked into heavily wooded areas created by the Illinois River thousands of years ago. This record eligible marathon course has 16 aide stations with Gatorade at each station and we plan to stock one station for the half and two for the marathon with GU. Runners participating in the Half Marathon\, which starts in the heart of Starved Rock State Park\, will experience the neighborhoods of Ottawa in addition to wooded scenery and sites along the Illinois River. The Half Marathon is a flat\, fast course making for a nice run through country and city alike. Each runner will receive a participant shirt and finishers receive a race specific medal which will be the fifth in the series. \nPlease note that in 2026\, the course will only remain open 6 hours\, which is different than the 6.5 hours of the past. We understand this change might affect some; however\, it is necessary to get roads back open in a safe timeline.  \nThe Run Starved Rock 5K  will return as well. This event will start and end at the same lines as the marathon\, and follow part of the marathon route before heading back to Ottawa for a finish along the river.  The event is a great addition for those who want to participate in the events of the day while their loved one or friend is running another race.  A portion of this event will benefit local charities and events promoting running and physical activity.   \nNew in 2026\, the 10K will also be an outback course along even more scenic portion of Rt 71 literally on the banks of the Illinois River (this race does not qualify for SRRL Circuit points at this time).   \nThe Health expo/packet pickup will be held from Noon – 8PM on Friday May 8th\, Rivers Edge event center (formally the K of C hall)\, 401 W. Main Street\, Ottawa\, IL. Runners will receive their bibs (required for race participation)\, participant shirt\, as well as a swag bag filled with local and regional offers and race information.  \nRace Categories will include male and female 10-14\, 15-19\, 20-24\, 25-29\, 30-34\, 35-39\, 40-44\, 45-49\, 50-54\, 55-59\, 60-64\, 65-69\, 70-74\, 75-80\, 80 and over. Awards will be given out after race

Pre-registrants get their choice of a Hoodie\, sweatshirt\, or Long Sleeve T-Shirt. The value of the swag alone is worth more than the cost of registration. \nThe gun goes off to start the race/walk at 10:00AM on Saturday November 29th at JFK School in Spring Valley (999 N Strong Ave). \nDay of registration and packet pick up will be open from 8:30-9:30AM. \nWe have the later start time so you can still get your crazy shopping sprees in\, and still make it to the race. \nFor the serious runners\, the course is a certified measured 5K. It is mostly flat with two gentle hills. The race will be chip timed with computerized results\, and awards will be given to: Overall Male and Female Top Finishers\, and 1st\, 2nd\, 3rd \, 4th\, 5th\, to  age groups: 6 and under and 7-9\, and 1st\, 2nd and 3rd to age groups  10-14\, 15-19\, 20-24\, 25-29\, 30-34\, 35-39\, 40-44\, 45-49\, 50-54\, 55-59\, 60-64\, 65-69\, 70 and over. Traffic control will be provided to keep our runners safe. \nFor walkers and runners that are out to have some fun\, in addition to the typical water stops\, we will feature Holiday goodie stops (cookies\, candy and HOT CHOCOLATE)\, and at the end of the race…… there is more. \nIn addition to the monetary proceeds of the race going to the Hall Food Pantry\, in the Holiday spirit we are asking participants to donate non-perishable items and we have an incentive. \nFor each two non-perishable items a participant donates\, their name will be entered into a drawing for prizes and gift certificates donated by our event sponsors. Bring 4 non-perishables\, and your name goes in twice\, 6 three times…… The more you donate\, the more chances you have to win. Will it be worth it? You betcha. \nAs the race draws closer\, we will announce the various prizes that will be available with the raffle. \nOnce again we have a request for the Big Guy (Santa) to be there to start the race and possibly hand out awards. \nCLICK FOR PRINTABLE RACE FORM \nClick for on-line registration \n

SUMMARY:Santas On The Run X
DESCRIPTION:Whether you are looking for a serious 5K race\, or just a fun holiday event to burn some of the Turkey Day calories\, Santas On The Run is an event you don’t want to miss. \nSantas On The Run is a 5K Race and a 1 Mile Walk to benefit the Hall Township Food Pantry. \nEach participant will receive a lighted Santa Hat. Oh yeah\, the awards will be Christmas ornaments. \nThere will be water/goodie stops at miles 1 and approximately 1.7. \nClick for printable registration form: \nClick for on-line registration \n
