Starved Rock Runners 26.2 by 5 Team Marathon @ Putnam County Jr. High School

This race was formerly the Starved Rock Runner Marathon Relay. In an effort to make this event more of a TEAM event and shorter in duration, the following changes have been made:

  • LATER START (10:00am)
  • SHORTER DURATION (90 minimute max)
  • GUN START (everyone starts at once)
  • NO BATON TO CARRY
  • CHIP TIMED BY RUNRACE
  • COUPLES AND SOLO DIVISIONS ADDED
  • THIS EVENT IS IHSA COMPLIENT
  • TEAM MEMBERS TIMES ARE ADDED TOGETHER FOR TOTAL MARATHON TIME
  • COUPLES TIMES ARE ADDED TOGETHER FOR 10.48 MILE TIME

A GREAT TEAM EVENT: This is a great team event that creates camaraderie within your team and fun competition between your team and your friends teams. Pick a cool name for your team, and come join in the fun. As always in the races held here, this is a race that celebrates the running life.

COURSE INFORMATION: The course is a 5.24 mile loop on country black top roads. The race starts and ends about 100 yards west of Putnam Country Jr. High School. The race will be chip timed. The times of individual team members will be totaled for a team time to determine the Division winners. T-Shirts guaranteed only to per-registered runners. Chili and soda available after the run. Showers available.

TEAM: Will consist of 5 members (mixer or single gender). Team must complete 5 legs.

COUPLES: Two member, male and female. Each person runs one leg (5.24 miles). Age determined by youngest member.

SOLO: Single person event. Peron runs one 5.24 mile leg

Starved Rock Runners LTD Board Meeting @ IV YMCA

Meetings are held @ 7:00PM the 3rd Tuesday of every month. 

Meetings will be held at the IV YMCA in the Board Room for the month of May of 2019.

Future meeting locations will be announced.

Board meetings are open to all members. Plan to attend!!!

Lori’s Walleye Run 5k @ Hall High School

34th  LORI’S WALLEYE RUN 5K – MARCH 23rd  9:00AM @ HALL HIGH SCHOOL IN SPRING VALLEY

Race day registration will be in the lobby at Hall High School (go through the front doors, on the south side of the school, turn left), from 7:30 – 8:30AM

The Course is Certified Distance with Splits at mile 1 and 2. The race will be electronically timed and Computerized Race Results with results posted on Starved Rock Runners web site. There will be a water stops on course just past the 1 and 2 mile points. There will be traffic control on the course. Refreshments will be available after the race. Long Sleeve T-Shirt is only guaranteed to those per-registered by noon on 3/14.

Divisions: Awards & Age Awards will be given to the 1st, 2nd & 3rd place finishers in each age bracket, the Overall Male & Female Finishers, & the top Male and Female Finisher from Spring Valley. Age Divisions: (one each for Male & Female) 9 & under, 10-13, 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over.

THE COURSE: The race begins and ends in the parking lot of Hall High School. The start line will be in the south east corner of the parking lot, and the end will be very near the sidewalk leading to the front doors of the new school. The course is an out and back. Thanks to volunteers from the Spring Valley Walleye Club, we will have traffic control at every intersection on the course to help keep you safe.  While our Race Marshall’s will do everything they can to keep you safe, the race is on city streets, and the streets will not be shut down to traffic, so please be aware of potential traffic.

THE AWARDS CEREMONIES: Will be held in the comfort of the beautiful cafeteria of Hall Hall School, where all of the post race food and refreshments will be.

Starved Rock Runners Wednesday Night Workouts @ Lock 14 of the I & M Canal

Workouts vary from weeks to week. Groups of different ability levels do different workouts. Meet in the parking lot of Lock 14. The advanced group does a 2 mile warm-up run to Split Rock, performs the scheduled workout for the week (generally intervals), and then does a 2 mile cool down run back to the parking lot. Work out can be up to 8 miles total. Other groups and individuals may do workouts of as little as 2 miles total with some walkers.

Trail is paved for the first mile, and packed gravel for the rest of the distance.

7TH ANNUAL RUN FOR RESPECT 5K AND 1 MILE FUN RUN/WALK @ ​PONTIAC TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL

This year’s theme is ROCK RESPECT!

RACE: Accurately measured chip-timed race flat 5K which begins and ends at Pontiac Township High School
– 5K starts at 10:00am and 1 mile walk starts after the 5K runners take off (on the high school track)
– Water stop at mile 2

AWARDS: 5K, overall male/female, male/female age groups

REFRESHMENTS: Light refreshments provided.

Quad Cities River Bandits Race to Home 5k and Fun Run @ Modern Woodmen Park

The Quad Cities River Bandits annual “Race to Home” 5k and Fun Run is scheduled for Saturday, April 13, 2019! This unique race benefiting our Bandit Scholars program provides fun and fitness for the whole family!

Packet Pick Up on 4/12 and 4/13! Raffles, food, and drink will be available in the party plaza post-race to celebrate!

The race course is a 3.1 mile paved course for runners and walkers that starts and finishes at the Moose Lodge in Ottawa. The course winds around the Dayton Township neighborhood featuring two hills and a calming atmosphere. Mile markers will be at each mile as well as water and times available along the course, and at the finish line. Race results will be posted at starvedrockrunners.org.

Awards will be presented for the top male and female race finishers, as well as the top male and female Moose member finishers. Awards will also be distributed to the top three finishers in specified age groups for males and females. The age groups are as follows: 13 & Under, 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80 & Older.
