Come join us at the Spooktacular Second IVS Trick or Trot Fun Run/Walk
What could be better than running through a cemetery on Halloween night?? Trunk or Treating while running through a cemetery on Halloween night!!

The run/walk will start near the base of the Michael Sonnemaker statue and then wind past the mausoleums and monuments in Springdale.

(Don’t be afraid – all the spooks and goblins are trick-or-treating elsewhere.) Along the way there will be trunk or treat stations to fill your goodie bag!
There will also be a Virtual Ghosting Trot – for those who prefer to haunt in their own graveyards.
Runners are encouraged to run in costume and enter the costume contest just before the fun run, in compliance with all CDC social distancing guidelines.
Costume Categories:

Best Male Costume, Best Female Costume, Best Couple Costume, Best Group Costume and new this year: Best Under 18 Costume!

A photo booth will be available for an enduring image of your fun! There will be a disinfectant station available – please wipe down the photo booth before and after each use. A volunteer will also be stationed at the photo booth for assistance.

All participants will receive a treat bag and memento of their run.
Participants are required to bring a headlamp/flashlight. Reflective gear is encouraged.

Oglesby 3 Mile Turkey Trot @ Oglesby Elks Lodge

The Starved Rock Runners are excited to announce that the tradition of the 42nd Annual Turkey Trot will continue.
Twenty-twenty will bring a totally new look to the race. To begin with, the new home for the race will be the Oglesby Elks Lodge, and the start time has been moved up to 8:00AM.
In addition to the new location, for the first time ever (due to the Pandemic), the race is limiting the number of participants to 400. Only on-line registration will be available, and only the first 400 registration will be accepted (a virtual option to the race will be available).
Packet pick up, and race registration (if the limit has not been reached), will be offered on Wednesday November 25th from 4:30-7:00 at the Elks Lodge.
Face masks are required at packet pick-up/registration, and will be required at the start line of the race.
The race will be started in waves of 50 with a two minute time interval between waves. Due to the staggered start of the race, the new start time for the race will be 8:00AM.
Masks are required at the start line. Once participants are on the race course, masks can be removed at their discretion. All participants must observe the 6’ social distancing protocol while on the course.
On line registration will open in the next few days, as soon as the sign-up site has been prepared. We will make an announce when that happens.

Santas on the Run V – 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk @ Hall High School ( parking lot)

Each year we’ve tried to make Santas On The Run bigger and better. With 2020 being the 5th Annual Santas On The Run, we had BIG plans for a BIG BASH.
Unfortunately the consequences of the Pandemic have limited what we can and cannot do. While event will go on live, our absolute primary goal is to keep everyone SAFE.
One of the major changes is we’ve had to move the venue to Hall High School and the event will be 100% outdoor. In addition for safety of our participants, we also have to eliminate the “goodie stops” on the race course.
The real bummer is no awards ceremony/after party (there will be no awards ceremonies or age group awards). As with most live race events that have happened since the Pandemic, we’ve pretty much had to make this event a come, pick up your swag, support the Food Pantry with non-perishable donations via the raffle, run, collect your prizes and go home.
We hope everyone will keep in mind the spirit of the event, and all profits from the race go directly to the Hall Township Food Pantry which services 300-500 family’s a month. Last year the participants of this event donated 1,428lbs of non-perishables, and raised almost $3,000. (which the Pantry uses to purchase food for its patrons).

WHEN: Saturday November 28th, 10:00AM

WHERE: Hall High School, 800 W. Erie St., Spring Valley, Il.

REGISTRATION: Will be limited to the first 300 participants. Registration cost is $25.00 through November 13th, and will be $30.00 through Race day or until the participation cap is reached. A virtual option is also available. Postage charges of $14.95 are added to the registration fee to cover the cost of mailing the swag to you.

COVID PRECAUTIONS: Everyone will be required to wear masks at registration, packet pick-up and at the start line. Waives (groups) of 50 participants will be started every two minutes. Once on the course, it is the discretion of the participant to wear or remove their mask. Everyone is asked to practice 6’  social distancing rules while on the course. These parameters have used on a number of local races and have shown to be successful. 

SWAG: Participants get their choice of a long sleeve T-shirt, sweatshirt or hoodie, a Santa hat, a Santa neck gaiter and Santa On The Run V participation holiday ornament.

RAFFLE: For every two piece non-perishable food items a participant brings to donate to the Hall Township Food Pantry, they will receive a ticket to play the raffle (donated prizes – donated by local merchants). Raffle tickets can also be purchased for $1.00ea or 6 for $5,00. The raffle drawing will be done while the race is in progress. Winners names will be posted before the first finishers cross the finish line, so prizes may be picked up before participants leave.
