Now in its third year, the 2016 Starved Rock Country Marathon and Half Marathon have been described as a soon to be favorite in central Illinois.  The course will again encompass the scenery of the Illinois River, the neighborhoods of Ottawa and the rolling landscapes in and around Starved Rock State Park.  Runners will experience rolling country hills and natural characteristics that will inspire your run with scenic beauty. Runners will experience the highs and lows of the hills created by the Illinois River thousands of years ago. Our records eligiable marathon course has 16 Aide stations and will again have GU on course at one aid station as well as gatoraide at each station.

The half route is an out and back style, but the scenery each direction along the widely considered flat route will make for a nice run through the country and city alike.

Each runner will receive a participant shirt, as well as finishers will receive a race specific medal.  Our medal will again be the third in the series.

In 2016, we welcome the Starved Rock Country Community Foundation as our new presenter.  With similar goals of enriching the area for both residents and visitors, the new partnership will only enhance offerings for the region we call Starved Rock Country.
